Skoda Octavia 1.4 Routine Maintenance and Wear and Tear Safety checks

One of our regulars dropped by for his routine engine servicing, but as always, we conducted a full undercarriage and drivetrain check to ensure everything’s running safe and smooth.

During inspection, we detected several worn suspension and drivetrain components that could cause handling instability, vibrations, and potential drivetrain wear if left unchecked.

✅ What was done:

🛢️ Engine & Gearbox Servicing:

  • Amsoil Euro 5W40 + Oil Filter Engine Servicing (every 10,000 km)
  • DQ200 Gearbox Transmission Servicing (recommended every 40,000 km)

🔩 Drivetrain Restoration:

  • Full Engine Mounting Set (excess movement and vibration detected)
  • Vibration during idle and in gear

🚗 Suspension Overhaul (Front & Rear):

  • New Original Absorbers (Suspension)
  • Absorber Covers
  • Bump Stops
  • Top Mounts
  • Top Mount Bearings

Undercarriage:

  • Lower Arms
  • Ball Joints
  • Stabilizer End Links
  • Wheel Alignment

All components replaced were either worn or degraded, some already causing noise and handling concerns. We always recommend addressing suspension wear early to avoid damage to tyres, bushings, and braking systems — especially for cars nearing or past 100,000km.

💬 Why we always inspect during routine servicing:
Many customers come in just for oil changes, but small vibrations, knocking sounds, or uneven tyre wear often point to underlying issues. Early detection saves money and prevents sudden breakdowns.
