Volvo S60 T4 – Issues and Solutions

  1. Intake Valves Choked with Carbon
Excessive carbon buildup on the intake valves will cause the car to feel sluggish and less responsive. This is a common issue in direct-injection engines.
Solution: Perform Walnut Blasting to clean the intake valves and Injector Cleaning to improve fuel atomization.
  2. Coolant Leak
Visible coolant leaks can lead to overheating and engine damage.
Solution: Replace the Original Coolant Pipe Valve and refill with 4 liters of Coolant to prevent further leakage.
  3. Engine Oil Level Low
Despite oil stains at the front of the engine, no direct leaks were found. We suspect the leak could be from the charge pipes, but it may not fully explain the low oil level. There’s also a chance the engine is burning oil internally.
Solution: Clean up oil stains, replace the Original Intake Manifold Gasket and Charge Pipes, and monitor for fresh leaks. If the problem persists, the engine may need an overhaul before your planned Malaysia trip in December.
  4. Vibration at Steering Wheel
This is usually caused by worn engine mounts.
Solution: Replace the Original Engine Mounting Set (4 pieces: Engine Mount LH, RH, Center Mount Front, and Rear) to reduce vibrations and improve driving comfort.
  5. Engine Servicing
We will also carry out engine servicing to keep the engine in good health.
Solution: Use Amsoil Euro 5W30 with an Original Engine Oil Filter, and add XADO Engine Restore Additive to attempt restoration of engine health.
  6. Left Side Drive Shaft Leak
The leaking drive shaft could cause drivetrain issues and uneven power delivery.
Solution: Repair the Left Drive Shaft to prevent further damage.
  7. Breather Pipe
The breather pipe is potentially broken as it was previously wrapped.
Solution: Replace with a new Breather Pipe, as it’s an inexpensive but important component for proper engine ventilation.
  8. Spark Plug Issue
Initially, there was a misfire in cylinders 3 and 4. After swapping the spark plugs, the misfire moved to cylinders 1 and 2, indicating faulty spark plugs.
Solution: Replace all spark plugs to resolve the misfire and improve engine performance.
